About Us

The Principal of the practice is Gordon Kerr, who Studied at the Oxford School of Architecture between 1974 and 1981 - qualifying as a Chartered Architect following the successful completion of Graduate (BA Hons) and Post Graduate (Grad Dip Arch Oxon) degree courses.

The current manifestation of Gordon R Kerr & Assoc was established in 1996 following eleven years as Partner in the London based Practice of Roger Carpenter Kerr & O'Hara, which was responsible for a number of prestigeous developments and recipient of a London Civic Trust Award and an RIBA Regional Award.

Armed with this experience, and following a move to the south Gordon R Kerr & Assoc has been servicing private and corporate clients in an area from the South Coast up to North Norfolk and many points between.

The mission of the practice is to provide flexibility in the commissioning and delivery of a wide range of architectural services for private and corporate clients alike. The ability of small practices to team up with professionals from other disciplines places then in an ideal position to undertake both small and substantial projects with the minimum of encumburance associated with a larger practice - resulting in competitive fees and direct contact between the designer and the client.

Consequently, the projects undertaken in the last 22 years range from the replacement of a small domestic residential conservatory for a private client to the design of proposals for the provision of 120 private and social housing units on 2No sites for a corporate client in partnership with a Housing Association.

We do not claim, to be unique in our approach, as the standards and Code of Conduct set down by our Institute (The Royal Institute of British Architects) and its Royal Charter demand a certain consistency of service and professionalism, but within this framework our aim is to provide creativity of design and quality of service and to break down the barriers that often exist between the profession and our clients.

It is not by accident that, in all the 'makeover' programs currently being broadcast on national television, there is rarely the mention of an Architect !
